Ben Warner is proud to be a native Texan. He graduated from the University of St. Thomas - Houston with a B.A. in Biology, completed a Neurophysiology research program with a M.S. from the University of Houston and attended the University of Texas School of Dentistry - Houston receiving a D.D.S. in 1979. After practicing for a decade, he returned to the world renowned Texas Medical Center, obtained a M.D. at the University of Texas McGovern Medical School, continued his training with combined residencies in Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Laboratory Medicine and served as Chief Resident. Subsequently, he was awarded an Oral Maxillofacial Head and Neck Fellowship from M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in the Department of Pathology. Additionally, his studies have included complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) such as Applied Kinesiology, Acupuncture, Magnet Therapy, Herbal Remedies, and Homeopathic Medicine. He is a Master in the Academy of General Dentistry, as well as, a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, the American College of Dentists, and the Academy of Laser Dentistry.
Although his educational background includes a broad spectrum of quite diverse views, he does not practice medicine or alternative medicine. Dr. Warner practices General Dentistry with a major focus on early Oral Diagnostics. His goal is to provide his patients with the best Dentistry has to offer by promoting oral health through prevention and comprehensive care. When there is disease, Dr. Warner has extensive experience and considerable expertise in a wide variety of oral disorders. This includes evaluation for malignant and precancerous conditions of the mouth, treatment of oral mucocutaneous diseases and dry mouth, assessment of the temporomandibular joint, occlusion or smile analysis, breath improvement therapy for chronic halitosis, as well as, screening for a multitude of other oral diseases. His interests include environmentally friendly "green" approaches to wellness. Dr. Warner continues his training by attending educational conferences and seminars throughout the year. Staying abreast of the latest developments, allows him to bring the newest proven advances in Dentistry and the finest in care to his patients.
Dr. Warner is Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Texas School of Dentistry in the Department of General Practice and Dental Public Health, where he serves as Director of the Diagnosis and Treatment Planning Clinic. He is vice-chair of the Advisory Committee for the Houston Community College Dental Assisting Program at Coleman College for Health Sciences in the Texas Medical Center and member of the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations and the ADA Council on Dental Education. He serves on numerous professional committees, journal editorial boards, and charitable organizations as well as presents educational talks to doctors, students and the public.
Some of Dr. Warner’s professional affiliations include the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, Greater Houston Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry, Texas Academy of General Dentistry, Houston Academy of General Dentistry, Academy of Laser Dentistry, American Dental Education Association, the International, American and Houston Association for Dental Research, and M. D. Anderson Alumni and Faculty Association.
On a more personal note, Ben met Kathleen Scroggins while they were in college and married. Today, they are the grateful parents of three honorable adults who are successful in their own right. Ben enjoys traveling with his wife and spending time with family and friends. He also likes to run, bike and swim.
Dr. Warner received the Mastership Award. It is the highest honor available in the Academy of General Dentistry and one of the most respected in the profession. To accomplish this, he passed a comprehensive written examination, and completed over 1,100 approved continuing education credits in all the disciplines of dentistry, including at least 400 hours dedicated to hands-on skills and techniques. He has been in continuous membership in the AGD since joining in 1980. Less than 1% of general dentists have earned the designation of Master.
Dr Warner is a Fellow of The International College of Dentists. It is the world’s oldest and largest honor society for dentists. The prestigious title of Fellow is extended by invitation only, following a rigorous, peer review process that leads to the recognition of the individual's "outstanding professional achievement, meritorious service and dedication to ... humankind." Approximately 4% of dentists in the United States are offered Fellowship.
Dr. Warner is a Fellow of The American College of Dentists. It is composed of dentists who exemplify excellence through their outstanding leadership and exceptional contributions to dentistry and society. The College has come to epitomize ethics and professionalism. It has long been regarded as the "conscience of dentistry." Membership is by invitation only and less than 3.5% of dentists are Fellows.
Dr. Ben Warner, Fellow of the Academy of Laser Dentistry, attended the International Conference and Exhibition of Laser Dentistry in Orlando Florida. He participated in a wide variety of lectures and hands-on workshop courses. This annual continuing education symposium emphasizes new laser applications, Oral Diagnosis, Oral Mucositis Photobiomodulation Therapy, Myofacial Pain Management, Implantology, Periodontal Maintenance, Endodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Restorative Dentistry and much more.
Lasers usually allow for bloodless surgical procedures, can destroy bacteria, and may reduce postoperative pain and swelling.
